College Planning & Financial Aid

In the FAFSA process , What is the difference between an Electronic Access Code ( EAC ) and a PIN ?

Answer:

The EAC uses a 6 alpha-character format (aaaaaa). The PIN uses a 4-digit numeric format (9999). However, the PIN functions in the same manner as the EAC. It allows you to access your personal information in various U.S. Department of Education systems. If you have previously requested and obtained your EAC, you do not need to request a PIN. A PIN will automatically be mailed to you.
